Oliphant remains with BMW for 2021 BTCC

Wednesday, February 10 2021

Tom Oliphant will remain in the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship this year, after confirming a deal to race once again for the WSR-run Team BMW outfit.

Oliphant returns to the BTCC following his best season to date, when he scored his maiden series victory at Brands Hatch in one of the squad's BMW 330i M Sports on his way to sixth in the final standings.

This was a significant step forward for the 30-year-old who remained in contention for the overall crown until the penultimate event of the year.

Oliphant will race alongside four-time champion Colin Turkington for a third successive season as he aims to help Team BMW win another Manufacturers' title.

Oliphant said: "I'm hugely excited about the season ahead, and naturally delighted to continue to race for Team BMW and WSR. I feel I've made a positive step forwards with my performance over the past two years and I now feel so dialled-in to the 330i M Sport…

"Going down to two cars last year meant that I took on greater responsibility and that's really helped my own development both on-track and off it - I certainly feel stronger and more confident as a result."

Team Principal, Dick Bennetts, said: "Tom made a big step forwards in 2020, which I think was largely down to having a year's experience under his belt with the rear-wheel-drive BMW and feeling ready to push himself to the next level. We asked far more of him last year and he responded extremely well both on-track and off it."

The BTCC visits the Brands Hatch Indy and Grand Prix circuits, Donington Park, Oulton Park and Snetterton this year across a revised schedule. You can click here to view all dates.
