Truck titans thunder into action at Snetterton

Saturday, September 07 2019

The British Truck Racing Championship weekend at Snetterton blasted into action today (Saturday) with three dramatic contests from the biggest racing machines in the UK.

Two contests from the Division Two category and a single race for the mighty Division One trucks were the highlight of a thrilling day's action.

Reigning champion Ryan Smith claimed a dominant win in the headline Division One category, despite missing out on pole position to rival David Jenkins by almost half a second. Smith made amends immediately though, with a move on the opening lap allowing him to build an advantage and power away from the field, winning by over five seconds.

Former Renault Clio Cup champion Paul Rivett claimed pole for the opening Division Two race, but drama right at the start meant he dropped back a few positions on the run to Riches on lap one, allowing Steven Powell and John Bowler to steam through into first and second, with Rivett recovering to take third place.

The second Division Two contest was dominated by Luke Garrett, who had only managed fifth place in the opening contest. This time around he was peerless, claiming victory by almost 10 seconds over Bowler, with Rivett claiming another podium in third.

The action steps up a gear tomorrow, with four more Truck contests to look forward to including the Grand Final, scheduled for 15.15. Additional action will come from Pickup Trucks, Legends, Kumho BMWs and Super Silhouettes.

There will be plenty of family entertainment tomorrow too, including Remote Control Land Rovers and Crazy Golf, both free of charge! The Fun Fair, Mini Monster Trucks and Show Trucks will also return.

Tickets will be available on the gate tomorrow, priced at £25 for adults, with free entry for children under-13 and discounts for teenagers aged 13-15 and for Senior Citizens. For more information or to book, click here
