Sutton back in BTCC title race heading to Snetterton ‘Diamond Double’?

Monday, June 25 2018

A pair of victories at Croft for Subaru's Ash Sutton may well have fired the reigning champion back into Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship contention over the weekend, with the next rounds being the 'Diamond Double' at Snetterton on 28-29 July.

Sutton, and teammates Jason Plato and Josh Price had struggled in the opening rounds of the season, but their Subaru Levorgs sparked into life in Yorkshire, with Sutton taking two wins, his first of the year, while Plato took his first podium, and indeed first points of the season, with a second place.

Podiums for Colin Turkington and Tom Ingram meanwhile mean they still sit at the top of the pile, while consistent finishes for Matt Neal and Andrew Jordan mean they remain fully in the fight. Tom Chilton scored another podium finish to keep himself firmly in the title battle, with Adam Morgan enduring his toughest weekend of the year, and eyeing a return to form at Snetterton.

The Snetterton BTCC rounds will be must-see affairs, with the final race being a special one-off 'Diamond Double' contest over 60 miles, meaning double the drama, and double the fun, to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the BTCC!

The diamond double, which will see cars running without success ballast and with its own qualifying session, will follow two standard-length BTCC races, and will be the grand finale of what will be a bumper weekend of action from Britain's most popular car racing championship.
