Haslam tops timings on opening day of Bennetts BSB

Friday, June 15 2018

Today's Bennetts British Superbike Championship opening day ended with Leon Haslam topping the timings despite a hard charge from Josh Brookes in free practice two, where the top 11 riders were separated by just 0.993s.

The 'Pocket Rocket' established himself at the top of the timings in the warm afternoon conditions but came under fire as the session progressed, dropping to fifth place in the last ten minutes as Brookes forged ahead, with Jake Dixon and Danny Buchan moving up the order.

The final minutes were a rush for the top spot as Glenn Irwin came within striking distance, but championship leader Haslam registered a faster lap that put him 0.078s ahead, with Brookes holding second ahead of Irwin at the chequered flag.

Tomorrow promises more thrilling action in the Norfolk sunshine, with free practice three at 10am before qualifying at 2pm - plus heaps of support qualifying and racing from British Talent Cup, Dickies Junior Supersport, Pirelli National Superstock 600 and 1000 and more!

Adult tickets for tomorrow are £16 on the gate, with reductions for teens (13-15) and senior citizens, and kids under 13 go free. Raceday is £34 for adults - for full details click here.
