Classic car racing opens Snetterton's 2019 season

Tuesday, April 02 2019

Norfolk's Snetterton circuit will see a stunning array of classic cars take to the track this weekend (6-7 April) for the opening event of the 2019 season. The Classic Sports Car Club (CSCC) meeting heralds the start of a thrilling year of racing at the circuit, featuring everything from bombastic trucks to jaw-dropping supercars.

Like all of MotorSport Vision's circuits, Snetterton has undergone upgrades over the winter to ensure the venue is in pristine condition for this year's racing, including the installation of debris fencing along the pit wall and improvements to the kerbs and run-off area at Riches.

Visitors will notice that the paddock toilets and Tyrrells restaurant have undergone an internal refresh, ahead of further improvements next winter, and investment in the circuit's IT will improve the speed and reliability of systems such as CCTV, live timing and WiFi for participants and spectators.

This weekend sees some truly old-school racing from the CSCC with cars including Jaguar E-Types, Ford Mustangs and Aston Martins doing battle on the high-speed 300 circuit. Spectators can get super-close to the action with an open paddock, enabling them to watch the teams and drivers as they prepare to race.

After a season-opener that rolls back the years, Snetterton's calendar is packed with events almost every weekend throughout 2019 featuring machinery from across the decades on two, four and even six wheels, culminating in the annual fireworks display on 3 November accompanied by the Time Attack Championship.

Snetterton hosts visits from major national championships across the season, including the Bennetts British Superbike Championship on 19-21 July, the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) on 3-4 August and the British Truck Racing Championship on 7-8 September.

Fans of historic racing can look forward to the HSCC Historic Car Championships on 1 June, while Ferraris, Aston Martins and MGs all have their own dedicated race meetings. Ticket prices for events start at £12 and kids under 13 are always free when accompanied by an adult.
