Honda duo aim to shine at Snetterton’s BTCC Diamond Double

Tuesday, July 24 2018

Halfords Yuasa Racing duo Matt Neal and Dan Cammish are aiming to dazzle the opposition at Snetterton this weekend (28-29 July), as they aim for the podium at the BTCC 'Diamond Double.'

Driving the new Honda Civic Type-R, Neal has already claimed a win at Thruxton, and two other podiums, and sits third in the championship. Cammish claimed his first podium at Donington, which was the first for the new car, and backed that up with another podium at Thruxton.

Neal, one of the gems of the BTCC, has provided countless glittering performances in his 28 year touring car career, and is aiming for more this weekend with the unique double length race at the end of the weekend being something he is looking forward to in particular.

"I will be going all-out for victory in race three, where the extra qualifying session and zero ballast puts us in a great position to bag a big chunk of double points to boost both mine and Honda's title hopes. Bring it on!" he enthused.

"It is an honour to play a part in another landmark weekend for the BTCC as a Honda driver. It is renowned as one of the top touring car championships in the world for good reason and I am proud to have contributed towards its internationally revered reputation over the years."

Cammish meanwhile is a starry-eyed newcomer to the BTCC, but the double Porsche Carrera Cup champion is hopeful of taking his first win.

"To be involved in the BTCC's 60th anniversary celebrations is hugely exciting and testament to the enduring popularity and competitiveness of this series. It would mean everything for me to reach the top step for the first time this weekend.

"I feel we stand a great chance in the Civic Type-R, which was quick and consistent during the Snetterton test, while my endurance racing background should make a difference when it comes to that gruelling 60 mile spectacular."

Tickets for the BTCC 'Diamond Double' at Snetterton on 28/29 July are still available online from £28, with free entry for under-13s. For more information call 0843 453 9000 or click here.
