Snetterton fireworks event raises £7,000 for charity

Tuesday, November 07 2017

Snetterton motor racing circuit's inaugural fireworks event last Sunday (5 November) raised £7,000 for a Norfolk charity that supports children with terminal or life-threatening illnesses.

The Bonfire Night event received fantastic support from the local community and money was raised for East Anglia's Children's Hospices (EACH) through ticket sales and on-track activities including a cycle ride and passenger laps in a variety of cars. EACH volunteers also collected donations in buckets throughout the afternoon.

Snetterton Circuit Manager Jamie Hopper said: "We were overwhelmed by the support for this event and are delighted to have raised £7,000 for this fantastic charity. We had an excellent attendance but regrettably were let down on the day by some of our suppliers which led to long queues for food and drink, for which we apologise.

"We will ensure this doesn't happen next year and would like to thank everyone who came along to see the fireworks and help us raise money for EACH. It's a fantastic result for the first running of this event."

Live band Night Train played twice in Tyrells Restaurant and the event culminated in a spectacular fireworks display that lit up the circuit.

Sophie Mayes, Corporate Fundraiser for EACH, added: "It's always a great privilege to be chosen as the beneficiary of a community event such as this one and we really appreciate everyone who's contributed a little something to EACH by attending.

"The money raised will help us to continue caring for children and young people with life-threatening conditions and supporting their families."
