Star baker Hollywood set for British GT brake off

Tuesday, March 15 2016

Celebrity baker Paul Hollywood will contest the GT4 class of the 2016 British GT Championship with the multiple championship-winning Beechdean Aston Martin Racing (AMR) squad, it was announced today (Tuesday) at the championship's Snetterton Media Day. Beechdean will enter a Vantage GT4 for Hollywood in selected rounds this year.

Following a successful introduction into GT racing in 2015, which included a class victory in the MSVR-run GT Cup on the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit, Hollywood is aiming to continue his development as a race driver throughout this season. Hollywood is keen to drive in as many races as possible this season, and has confirmed that he will be on the grid when the championship returns to the Norfolk circuit on 6-7 August.

Hollywood's co-driver for the season will be announced in the coming weeks.

Reigning British GT3 champion and Beechdean AMR team owner, Andrew Howard commented: "It is great to have Paul back with us this year. The progression he made last year was excellent and we look forward to him developing in one of the most competitive GT Championships in the world."

Hollywood added: "Following my time in the GT4 last year, I am really excited to get behind the wheel and to be affiliated to a team like Beechdean who have dominated the sport over the last few years."

Beechdean AMR will also continue to run a car in the GT3 class for reigning two-time champion Andrew Howard and Ross Gunn, who steps up to the premier class this year following a championship-winning season in the GT4 class. The successful team will continue to run a full-time Vantage GT4 for BRDC Formula 4 graduates Jordan Albert and Jack Bartholomew who are aiming to emulate Gunn's success from last year.
