Snetterton to reel back the years at Vintage Festival this Sunday

Monday, September 21 2015

The Vintage Sports-Car Festival returns to Snetterton this Sunday (27 September), with a packed programme of antique motor racing, and a retro off-track entertainment line-up. Discounted tickets for the event are on sale until midday on Wednesday and under-13s go free.

The Vintage Sports-Car Club will provide a fascinating racing programme which will take visitors back to the earliest days of competitive motorsport. The racing line-up includes the organisation's prestigious Seaman Memorial Trophies, named in honour of legendary British pre-War Grand Prix driver Richard Seaman.

Racing recalls an era of unparalleled invention and bravery in motor racing, when long gone British manufacturers such as ERA battled with continental giants such as Bugatti and Alfa Romeo for supremacy. Many of the earliest cars from that era pre-date modern safety innovations such as rollcages and seatbelts, and will be racing in period specification without them.

Many of the cars in action would have been driven in-period at the classic races of the day such as the Mille Miglia by legends such as Tazio Nuvolari and a provisional entry list for the meeting can be viewed here.

The Vintage Festival is about much more than just racing though and as such, the show extends beyond the circuit's limits to its green surroundings. Here visitors will be able to find impressive displays of vintage and historic road cars that enthusiastic owners have brought from across eastern England to show off. The paddock will be open all day too, allowing everyone to take a much closer look at the racing machines as they're prepared for battle.

Other off-track highlights will include a Pimms and Cream Tea Tent, where traditional British snacks and beverages will be available, whilst a period-style band will be on hand to maintain the nostalgic mood. There will be opportunities to learn about the Norfolk circuit's own illustrious history too with a special Snetterton History Display.

Spectators are encouraged to keep their eyes on the skies too, as an Aero Legends T-6 Harvard takes to the skies for an aerobatic display.

Tickets for the Vintage Sports-Car Festival at Snetterton on Sunday 27 September are available on the gate for £19 with free entry for under-13s. For more information please call 0843 453 9000 or click here
