Feast of family fun at Snetterton Truck Racing this month

Wednesday, September 02 2015

The British Truck Racing Championship rumbles into Snetterton on 19/20 September, delivering a weekend of exciting motorsport action, including five headlining truck races, plus a feast of family entertainment, and free admission to under-13s!

Truck racing is one of the greatest spectacles in motorsport, featuring 1,000 horsepower five-tonners that can out-accelerate a sportscar as they powerslide out of corners. The drivers aren't shy when it comes to combat, and with a reverse-grid format devised to produce great racing, they'll be duelling at speeds of up to 100 mph on the Snetterton 300 circuit.

With just two events following Snetterton, the British Truck Racing Championship table is finely poised, with just nine points covering the top four in the top Division 1. Reigning triple champion Mat Summerfield heads ten-time title winner Stuart Oliver, former champion Dave Jenkins and last year's Division 2 winner Ryan Smith.

In Division 2, former class champion Steve Powell is aiming to extend his lead over Luke Garrett, and will also face opposition from local driver Jim Bennett from Bungay, who lies fourth in the standings. The slower Division 2 trucks will get a head start over their quicker counterparts, and it's possible that one of the drivers in this class could hold on for a giant-killing victory.

A huge 23-race programme also includes supporting action from the Legends - pint-sized replicas of pre-war American hot-rods which are renowned for ultra-close racing. There will be racing from Classic Touring Cars, the Max 5 championship for Mazda's popular MX-5 roadster, Clubmans sports racers and classic Formula Ford 2000 single-seaters.

In addition to entertainment on the track, there's a whole host of family-themed fun on offer, with a display of show trucks, a VIP-style grid walk and autograph session free to all spectators on the Sunday, and even a chance to ride on a Red Dragon Monster Truck as it leaps over obstacles. Other attractions include a Wildcat aerobatic aircraft display and children's entertainment from bouncy castles to a playground and free face painting.

Tickets for the British Truck Racing Championship at Snetterton on 19/20 September are available online from £18, with free admission for under-13s and a special rate for 13-15 year-olds. For more information call 0843 453 9000 or click here.
