Snetterton set for MCE BSB this weekend

Sunday, June 14 2015

Tens of thousands of fans are set to descend on Norfolk this weekend (19/20/21 June) for Snetterton's biggest event of the season as the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship rolls into town.

The MCE BSB features a grid of 37 riders from across the world and Britain's James Ellison currently leads the standings for the JG Speedfit Kawasaki team. He holds an eight point advantage over defending champion Shane 'Shakey' Byrne and Josh Brookes - the Australian recording the fastest ever lap of the 300 circuit at the recent official test.

The annual round of the championship will include a further 12 support class races in addition to the two showcase MCE BSB races on Sunday, and will feature a special appearance from Grand Prix legend Giacomo Agostini. The illustrious 15-times World Champion will be supporting Italian manufacturer MV Agusta's campaign and attending an official ceremony to formally inaugurate the corner of the track named in his honour.

The event will also feature on main raceday (Sunday) a display from the 6 Regiment Army Air Corps and the Apache, the world's most advanced multi-role combat helicopter. The Apache attack helicopter will be on display with the 6 Regiment Army Air Corps for spectators to get up close to the magnificent aircraft before it later takes to the skies.

Visitors to the circuit will also be able to sample a unique bird's-eye view of the event by climbing aboard the 6 Regiment Army Air Corps hot air balloon (weather dependant). The tethered balloon will give visitors a rare opportunity to see Snetterton from the air during a major race meeting.

Record-breaking pace-setter Brookes said: "Snetterton is considered to be a horsepower-important track with the long back straight and the climb up the front straight, and there are a lot of corners on the infield section so you have to get everything right. It is very hard to narrow down who the main challenges for the win will come from - I don't think I can pinpoint one person as there is such a broad number of riders who I wouldn't be surprised to be in a battle against in the two races."

Discounted advance tickets to the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship at Snetterton on 19-21 June are available now: adult raceday (Sunday) admission is £26 online, and three-day adult tickets are £34. Camping is just £18 per person, and children under 13 go free all weekend. Tickets are available online at www.snetterton.co.uk or by calling 0843 453 9000.
