Positive Kiyonari ‘needs to win’ at Snetterton MCE BSB round

Wednesday, June 17 2015

Ryuichi Kiyonari has vowed to strike back stronger at Snetterton this weekend (19/20/21 June) for the fourth round of the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship as the Buildbase BMW contender promises to come out fighting for victories in Sunday's two races.

Kiyonari has yet to stand on the podium this season, scoring a best result of fourth from the opening three rounds, but after battling at the front last time out at Oulton Park the Japanese contender wants to be back in the hunt again and is even more determined to return to winning ways.

Kiyonari said: "I am ready for this weekend at Snetterton. I don't think it is a big problem that we missed the test, but I was watching the live timing in Japan and everyone was so much faster than before. I think though that I expected that after the pace that we have seen at some of the other rounds.

We have been working with the machine set-up this year and I feel really comfortable with the BMW. I have a lot of confidence in the bike and the team and I know that we still can improve more and keep getting faster for the rest of the season.

I think I have more this weekend than I did at Oulton Park at the last round; there I was getting better with every lap and I feel that I can do the same this weekend. I have to do better this weekend because we need the points for the championship.

At Donington Park we had a small problem and we have worked hard and made improvements since then in lots of areas. At Oulton Park we improved the engine performance and the power delivery which was important, especially off the corners.

Anything is possible this weekend. I know it will be hard because it is never easy but the last three rounds have made me more determined. I am feeling very positive, even after Oulton Park, and I have a good feeling. I am always worried before the weekend but I am ready for Snetterton. I need to win because we need the points for the championship."
