MCE BSB fans set for spectacular Apache display at Snetterton

Wednesday, June 10 2015

The MCE British Superbike Championship blasts into Snetterton next weekend (19/20/21 June) and spectators attending the biggest event of the year at the Norfolk circuit will be thrilled by a raceday (Sunday) display from the 6 Regiment Army Air Corps and the Apache, the world's most advanced multi-role combat helicopter.

The Apache attack helicopter will be on display with the 6 Regiment Army Air Corps on raceday (Sunday) for spectators to get up close to the magnificent aircraft before it later takes to the skies.

During the weekend the MCE BSB riders will be lapping their Superbikes at speeds of around 180mph on the Snetterton circuit, a former RAF airfield during World War II, and the Apache helicopter is capable of speeds of 205mph, making it the world's fastest military helicopter.

Visitors to the circuit will also be able to sample a unique bird's-eye view of the event by climbing aboard the 6 Regiment Army Air Corps hot air balloon (weather dependant). The tethered balloon will give visitors the chance to see Snetterton from the air and for those wanting a hands-on experience, there will also be an opportunity to load drill munitions to the aircraft, giving you an understanding of the role of the Reservist in 6 Regt Army Air Corps.

6 Regiment Army Air Corps is the only Aviation Reserve Unit in the British Army, providing essential ground crew soldiers to keep Apache helicopters operational irrespective of the conditions. The Regiment has squadrons and flights based in Bury St Edmunds, Norwich and Ipswich and further afield in Milton Keynes and Luton and this year has had soldiers deployed on exercise to Kenya and America.

Captain Chris Tate said: "This is an excellent opportunity to meet with reservists and to generally find out more about the Army Reserve. It may be something that you are only thinking about joining or you just have a general interest and want more information. If that's you then come along and chat to us."

Discounted advance tickets are available now: adult raceday (Sunday) admission is £26 online, and three-day adult tickets are £34. Camping is just £18 per person, and children under 13 go free. To order your tickets click here or call 0843 453 9000.
