Linfoot fired up for Snetterton return after overcoming injury

Tuesday, June 09 2015

Dan Linfoot will be back on the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship grid next weekend (19/20/21 June) at Snetterton as the Honda Racing contender returns from injury after breaking his wrist at Brands Hatch back in April.

Linfoot had a stunning start to his campaign with the multiple title-winning team, fighting his way to second place at Donington Park, before an unlucky crash in the opening free practice session at the second round left him sidelined for two rounds and requiring surgery. Linfoot was able to complete laps during the recent official test at Snetterton following his rehabilitation programme and now he is ready to return and rebuild his championship campaign.

Linfoot said: "The goal for me was always to be back for Snetterton and that was really important - even when I was sat in the medical centre I asked them how long they thought the recovery would be and I set that as my target even then.

"I have been lucky that we were able to have the test at Snetterton as some preparation before coming back and although the test was difficult in terms of it being just four and a half weeks after my operation, I felt comfortable and safe on the bike. The only time I had a little discomfort was in the right-hand corners, but we are now two weeks on from that and I have been out riding my own Fireblade on the road and there has definitely been further improvement although obviously the road is a lot different from the track!

"I would say I am currently at about 80 - 90 percent recovered with my wrist and there is still over a week to go where I can still have more physio, train and ride so I think we will be in an even better position again by next week.

"I have obviously had a large chunk of time off the bike where everyone else has had two rounds at Brands Hatch and Oulton Park, so I know I will need to get back up to speed and build myself back up to where we were before the crash, but I am confident that we can do that. My aim for Snetterton is to come away with two good top six finishes to get some points back on the board and get myself as close to, or back in the top six in the standings, although we still have a long way to go before the Showdown is decided.

"I know we can keep getting stronger again and I am now just so excited to get back out there as when you have to watch the racing rather than being on the grid you realise how much you miss it!"
