Snetterton unveils packed 2015 race events calendar

Thursday, February 05 2015

The full 2015 race calendar for Snetterton has been unveiled by circuit owner MotorSport Vision (MSV), with over 30 race events during the year and action almost every weekend from March until November at the revered Norfolk circuit. Transport links have been hugely improved over the winter with the new A11 dual carriageway and tickets are now on sale for many events, starting at just £10, with free entry for children under 13.

The UK's most popular racing series, the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship will visit Snetterton in June. Shane 'Shakey' Byrne has set his sights on a record-smashing fifth title but will face stiff opposition from triple champion Ryuichi Kiyonari, who nearly stole the championship last year, plus charismatic Aussie Josh Brookes and Michael Laverty, who returns from MotoGP, amongst 36 riders already confirmed. Truly world-class, this year's MCE BSB will feature riders from eleven nations, including Honda's Jenny Tinmouth, the championship's first female works rider.

Also massively popular, the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship visits Snetterton in early August. The BTCC has a new look to its line-up this year: triple World Touring Car Champion Andy Priaulx returns to the BTCC and will race for the title-winning WSR BMW 1-Series team alongside former MG ace Sam Tordoff. 2013 champion Andrew Jordan now heads up the MG squad, whilst Jason Plato and Colin Turkington have yet to reveal their plans for the season, and Honda Racing will unveil a brand new car for Matt Neal and Gordon Shedden.

Snetterton fans can witness GT action in late August with the Avon Tyres British GT Championship. Featuring Aston Martins, Bentleys, Ferraris, Porsches and more on a multi-million pound grid, and with close racing and drama-filled pitstops, the championship rivals the BTCC in the affections of petrolheads. GT rounds will be co-headlined by the MSV-run BRDC Formula 4 Championship, a vital step for young drivers on the route to Formula 1.

Thrills and spills are guaranteed in the British Truck Racing Championship, which will roar into Snetterton in September. Truck racing events are a firm favourite with families and feature a packed programme of action on and off-track aimed at all ages.

Historic racing fans will love the Historic Sports Car Club's new Archie Scott Brown Trophy at Snetterton in June, celebrating Cambridge's Lister marque in tribute to its founder Brian Lister, who passed away before Christmas. The Vintage Sports-Car Club returns in September, and the annual Vintage Sports Car Festival has become a firm favourite, with pre-war racing, classic car displays, cream teas and jazz music adding to the garden party atmosphere.

At the other end of the spectrum, Retro Kings will celebrate the UK's finest retro and classic cars. Track action includes the spectacular Retro Time Attack and Time Attack Championships, plus huge club displays and on-track demonstrations. Visitors can also join in the action by tackling a retro gymkhana course, or partaking in passenger rides.
