Spectacular supercars head to Snetterton next weekend

Thursday, August 13 2015

A huge grid of stunning supercars will be the highlight of a packed schedule of racing at Snetterton next weekend (22/23 August), with two races for the Avon Tyres British GT Championship, the UK's most exotic race series.

The British GT Championship features over 30 supercars, representing evocative marques including Aston Martin, Audi, BMW, Ferrari, Lotus, McLaren, Mercedes and Porsche. Capable of speeds in excess of 150mph on the Snetterton 300 circuit's Senna and Bentley Straights, they will also provide the best soundtrack of the year!

The cars will appear in two one-hour races on the Sunday, both of which feature Le Mans-style pitstops for driver changes. Amongst the teams is the ISSY Racing Lotus Evora, with Lotus Motorsport's Gavan Kershaw the lead driver and support from the Hethel factory. Two more Evoras are fielded by the Long Stratton-based Stratton Motorsport Ultratek squad.

The event will be co-headlined by the Duo BRDC Formula 4 Championship, the nation's top single-seater series. Three F4 races will be contested by the Grand Prix stars of the future, ready to follow in the footsteps of last year's champion George Russell from Wisbech, who won the prestigious McLaren Autosport BRDC Young Driver award and is currently impressing on the racetracks of Europe in FIA European F3.

The 2015 championship is currently led by Will Palmer, son of Snetterton circuit owner Jonathan. He'll face a stern challenge next weekend from title rivals Rodrigo Fonseca from Mexico and Tom Jackson, who, like Palmer, won last time the championship visited Snetterton in July. Also out to impress will be Thetford's Jack Lang, who will be aiming to return to the podium following a third place finish earlier in the season.

The event will also include a strong bill of support races, including saloon car racing from the Volkswagen Racing Cup, and more sportscar action from the Ginetta GT5 Challenge, Porsche Club Championship and the visiting Northern Sports and Saloon Car Championship. Younger racegoers will also be able to enjoy a free children's adventure playground.

Tickets for the British GT Championship at Snetterton on 22/23 August are available from £18 with free entry for under-13s. For more information, please call 0843 453 9000 or click here.
