Oman Racing Team heads British GT warm-up at Snetterton

Sunday, August 23 2015

The Oman Racing Team Aston Martin of Liam Griffin and Rory Butcher headed the Avon Tyres British GT Championship warm-up session at Snetterton, ahead of today's (Sunday) two one-hour races.

The ten-minute warm-up session equated to just a handful of laps of the Snetterton 300 circuit, and with two drivers to each car, there was just enough time to confirm set-ups for the afternoon's two one-hour races.

Rory Butcher set the immediate pace in the Oman Racing Team Aston Martin, and with title leader Marco Attard second in the Ecurie Ecosse BMW, albeit a few seconds behind, the signs were good for a continued championship fight.

Unsurprisingly the top of the order changed in the final moments, but the leader remained the same. Second was the pole-sitting TF Sport Aston Martin, just over a second behind Butcher, with the VonRyan Racing McLaren third.

However on his last lap, Attard returned to second, with the eventual gap to the leader 1.177 seconds. The sister Team Russia car held fifth, ahead of title challengers Beechdean, then the Team LNT Ginetta, 22GT Racing Aston Martin and Preci-Spark Mercedes SLS AMG.

JWB Bird Motorsport's Aston Martin led the GT4 class from the University of Bolton's Vantage and the double-pole-sitting ISSY Racing Lotus Evora.
