Levett warms up Snetterton crowd ahead of fun-filled truck event

Sunday, September 14 2014

Christopher Levett put his Saturday troubles behind him to comfortably top the warm-up session ahead of today's (Sunday) three British Truck Racing Championship races at Snetterton.

Levett, whose weekend has so far been dogged by braking issues, immediately lapped the 300 circuit over a second faster than anyone had managed on the opening day. He returned to the pits on the following tour, and his mechanics worked frantically around the front wheels, suggesting that there was a little fine-tuning to be done. It certainly worked, for he had time for one final effort, in which he took another couple of tenths to become the first man in the category to lap the circuit in under two minutes and 27 seconds this weekend.

Championship leader Mat Summerfield was second fastest, initially two seconds slower than Levett, and despite an improvement, he was unable to better his fastest lap from yesterday's second race. His warm-up ended in the pitlane, but there appeared to be no dramas for the leading MAN driver.

Third went to fastest qualifier Stuart Oliver, who was almost a second off Summerfield's pace, whilst race one winner Steven Thomas was fourth. Richard Collett was over four seconds away from the fastest time, as was David Jenkins, followed by the second ex-works Renault of Ray Coleman.

Only three Division 2 trucks elected to take to the track for the session, and title challenger Simon Reid headed Graham Powell by over six seconds, with Andy Lovenberry appearing, but failing to post a lap time.

The opening truck race of the day will take place at 10:55am, whilst today's activities will also include a free grid walk and autograph session before the second truck race (grid walk will be from 12:15), Red Dragon Monster Truck rides, childrens' activities and a Wildcat Aerobatics display at 16:15.
