F4 Winter Series kicks off at Snetterton this weekend

Monday, November 03 2014

The BRDC F4 Winter Championship begins this weekend at Snetterton, with four races taking place across the weekend. Support comes from the KICK Start Energy Ginetta Junior Winter Series and the latest well-supported MSVR All-Comers race.

Main championship front-runner Will Palmer heads the entry with HHC Motorsport, having claimed sixth in the standings in his debut single-seater season. Meanwhile, Mectech Motorsport will make its first competitive F4 appearance, fresh from securing their third Radical championship in as many years as Bradley Smith added the Radical European Masters crown to his 2012 Clubman's Cup and 2013 SR3 Challenge titles. Connor Jupp leads Mectech's assault, while Jordan Albert and Fernando Urrutia have been confirmed at SWR-Caterham F1, and Rodrigo Fonseca at Douglas Motorsport.

More drivers are being announced every day for the Winter Series, which was won in 2013 by Matthew Graham. This year's victor will receive free entry into the 2015 main championship (worth £10,000), so competition will be hot.

The KICK Start Energy Ginetta Winter Series returns for its seventh year as youngsters aim to follow in Seb Morris and Harry Woodhead's footsteps. The 2011 and 2012 winners went on to claim the overall Ginetta Junior championship the following year.

The final MSVR All-Comers race of the season should see over 30 cars do battle, as Caterhams, Lotuses and Ginettas will tackle big BMW saloons for one last time this year. Some of the Lotus racers contested the Finals Day last weekend, and should be able to put their recent experience to good use.

Tickets for this weekend's event cost £10 in advance, available until midday Tuesday 04 November. Children under 13 get in free, click here to book or call 0843 453 9000.
