Kiyo out to capture podiums at Snetterton

Thursday, May 29 2014

Triple MCE British Superbike champion Ryuichi Kiyonari is ready to get back on track at Snetterton in two weeks' time (13/14/15 June) and believes that the Norfolk circuit could be where he is ready to fight for a podium comeback with the Buildbase BMW team.

Kiyonari has celebrated more victories at Snetterton, combining the previous layout and the 300 configuration, than any other rider and with a strong fourth place at the season opener the Japanese rider is ready to forget the disappointment of Oulton Park.

"Brands Hatch and Oulton Park started the season well for me and we were very strong, especially as we hadn't done so much testing," said Kiyonari. "We have had some problems, like at Oulton Park, and the team have fixed this. I am very happy; we have shown we can be fast and we want to come back stronger."

After over a month's break, Snetterton will be the fix needed for both riders and fans alike, with Kiyonari optimistic that the circuit will be one where he can challenge for a historic first podium for BMW in MCE BSB.

"It feels like a long time since Oulton Park, but I have felt good at the races so far. Although I was slow at the start of the race at Brands Hatch, and let everyone go when I stalled, I think we were better at the end of the race as that is when I passed some more riders," joked Kiyonari. "For sure I am not with Shakey and Josh yet, but we want to close the gap at Snetterton. I want to finish on the podium, maybe even try for the win soon because I want to win again. I have the confidence to push for wins and podiums and that makes me happy."
