Onslow-Cole sets the pace in British GT warm-up

Sunday, June 22 2014

Tom Onslow-Cole headed the warm-up session ahead of today's (Sunday) Avon Tyres British GT Championship races at Snetterton.

The Oman Racing Team Aston Martin, in the hands of Rory Butcher, headed the field in the opening moments of the compact session, which would only see four flying laps, unsurprisingly handed by the pro drivers.

Onslow-Cole lapped nine tenths quicker than Butcher in the late stages, with Matt Bell also beating Butcher's time. However, the headline lap, which would not be bettered in the session, was more than a second off the qualifying pace, as teams concentrated on race trim for both of today's one-hour encounters.

Phil Keen lapped the Trackspeed Porsche third quickest in the final moments, ahead of Richard Abra's Aston Martin and Aaron Scott's Ferrari. Behind early pacesetter Butcher, the reigning champion Beechdean car was seventh, followed by the AF Corse Ferrari, second Trackspeed Porsche and Triple 8 BMW of Luke Hines and Derek Johnston.

In GT4 Jamie Stanley's Ginetta initially headed the ISSY Racing Evora, but eventually had to settle for second in class.

Race one will take place at 11:40am today. Click here to download a full classification for this session.
