Watch great races from 2014

Sunday, December 28 2014

Avoid the queues in the January sales by watching some of the year's best races at our circuits and getting in the mood for a new season of action in 2015.

We've enjoyed another great season of entertainment from some of the best championships in the country, and a few international series too. Pour a glass of mulled wine and grab a jumbo tin of Quality Street whilst we take you through some of the highlights.

MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship
The MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship rarely fails to deliver fantastic action and 2014 certainly didn't disappoint. After winning the opening races, Shakey Byrne had his hands full trying to prevent rival Josh Brookes at Oulton Park, which you can see in our first clip.

By the end of the season, Shakey and Ryuichi Kiyonari were locked in an intense fight for the title, with both aiming for a record fourth championship. Kiyo crashed in practice and was unable to compete in the first of the three races, but Shakey failed to finish. The Japanese rider didn't enter the second but the pressure was still on his rival.

British Touring Car Championship
The 2014 British Touring Car Championship kicked off at Brands Hatch with a 31-car grid and seven champions, and the opening rounds supplied plenty to talk about. At this stage Andrew Jordan was the man to beat, with eventual champion Colin Turkington, runner-up Jason Plato and the works Hondas amongst his challengers.

At Snetterton in August Turkington and Plato were locked in their own personal battle for the title, but BMR's Aron Smith had something to say in a fierce final race.

British GT Championship
It's almost impossible to predict winners in the British GT Championship, and these two clips prove just why. The second round at Oulton Park was both frantic and incident-filled, and whilst the eventual title-winning Ecurie Ecosse team would take the chequered flag, it was only after the race took an unexpected turn late on.

At Snetterton in June, Alexander Sims was engaged elsewhere, so former champion Johnny Cocker returned to the series to drive the Ecurie Ecosse BMW Z4. He showed just why he is a class act in this category, hounding Phil Keen to the end.

Blancpain GT Series
International GT racing visited Brands Hatch in 2014, and the two races supplied plenty of drama under glorious May skies. These two highlights packages show that there's much to like about this superb series.

Truck Racing
And now time for something completely different. Worlds apart from GT racing, the British Truck Racing Championship is one of the gems of motorsport. You can see why in this highlights package from Brands Hatch back in April.

American SpeedFest

Our final clip contains more than just racing. If you like your motorsport big and brash, then American SpeedFest is for you. Catch the thrills of the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series and get a taste of the atmosphere with this highlights package from last June's event.
