MSV's top ten photos of 2014

Tuesday, December 30 2014

Our circuits are a popular destinations for both professional and amateur snappers, and in a sport as visual as ours, there have been some great images this year, from great races and prestigious events, to championship celebrations.

We're lucky to receive thousands of photos every year, taken at all of our circuits and at the vast majority of our events. Whether it's club racing for honour, or international GT competition, we've been hugely impressed by the quality of images that we've seen this year.

Here are ten of our favourites from 2014, in chronological order:

1. British GT at Oulton Park - Laura Manning and Steve Cross

Laura Manning and Steve Cross supplied this colourful shot, which shows just why British GT is one of the country's best championships.

2. Blancpain GT - Blzeebub

GT racing is a team effort, captured here as Hari Proczyk celebrates with his Grasser Racing Team colleagues just as Jeroen Bleekemolen takes the chequered flag to complete a double Blancpain GT Series victory at Brands Hatch.

3. British Touring Cars old and new - Jakob Ebrey Photography

JEP's Mike Hoyer braved being tailgated by this pair as reigning champion Andrew Jordan and the Super Touring Car Championship's Mark Jones lapped Oulton Park side-by-side. Andrew later swapped his title-winning Honda Civc for the Vauxhall Cavalier and also sampled a Renault Laguna at the Cheshire track.

4. American SpeedFest - Phatphoto

The NASCAR Whelen Euro Series misses none of its US counterpart's excitement, as seen here as the field climbs the hill to Druids, oblivious to the chaos kicking off behind.

5. BRDC Formula 4 - Az Edwards

Az's photo captures the pressure that Wisbech's George Russell was under to perform at Snetterton, his home circuit. Despite claiming pole position he had to give best to Will Palmer and Arjun Maini in the British GT Championship-supporting races. He returned in October to claim the BRDC F4 title, however.

6. Cadwell Park 80th Anniversary Meeting - Mark Lees

A classic Mountain shot with a difference - the packed crowd is here to celebrate Cadwell Park's 80th birthday. Many would be back later that month to assume their customary position for the MCE BSB Party in the Park.

7. Formula 1 comes to Cadwell Park - Mark Lees

An F1 car taking to Cadwell Park is an unusual sight, so it was no surprise to see so many people anticipating this rare treat.

8. BTCC finale - Nick Dungan

This has become Nick's signature shot and the 2014 edition doesn't disappoint, as Colin Turkington celebrates his second title at Brands Hatch in October.

9. MCE British Superbike Championship Showdown

We love this publicity shot of eventual champion Shakey Byrne looking the part as he prepares to claim his record-breaking fourth MCE British Superbike Championship in a showdown for the title.

10. Truck Parade and Fireworks - Nicola Todd

The last major event of the 2014 season at Brands Hatch was a hugely popular one, not least because it ended with a big fireworks display, accompanied by a truck parade which even included the famous Coca-Cola truck!
