Donnelly and Goff set to star at Snetterton this weekend

Wednesday, April 02 2014

The 2014 Elise Trophy and Lotus Cup UK season gets underway this weekend (5/6 April) at Snetterton, and both have attracted packed grids, including big names from the world of motorsport.

Snetterton's round of the Elise Trophy will be the first since the series attained championship status over the winter. This has already attracted an entry from former Formula 1 driver Martin Donnelly, fresh from his role as guest Steward at last weekend's Malaysian Grand Prix. He will compete against his son Stefan, who will make his racing debut this weekend.

Also set to take part is rising star of the BTCC, Jack Goff, one week after taking a trio of points finishes in the season opener at Brands Hatch. Goff races in the tin top championship for Team BMR, run by former Elise Trophy racer Warren Scott, and will also participate in the Lotus Cup UK race.

"It's always nice to go back to the Lotus paddock," said Goff, who has raced in Lotus Cup UK almost since its inception. "I've been around it for a few years now, got to know quite a few people, including all of the Datum Motorsport team, and they're a great bunch of lads. They're building up a fresh car, so they'd like to get me out in at the first race at Snetterton and see what they can do."

On racing Donnelly, Goff exclaimed: "It's always nice to go up against some famous names, so we'll go out there and see what we can do against him!"

The event will also feature the worldwide race debut of the new Elise Cup R, amongst 39 entries for the Elise Trophy, and 40 for Lotus Cup UK. The list also includes experienced drivers Scott Mansell, Ollie Hancock, Fulvio Mussi and Andrew Bentley.

Tickets for the MSVR Season Starter at Snetterton on 5/6 April are available on the gate for £14 on both days, with free entry for children aged 12 and under. For more information call 0843 453 9000 or click here.
