RAF Reserves Honda set for home test with Andrews at Snetterton

Monday, April 07 2014

RAF Reserves Honda's Simon Andrews is gearing up for their final pre-season test at Snetterton this week (8/9 April) as the Kings Lynn-based team prepare for their debut MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship season.

Andrews and the team made their on track debut at Donington Park last week as he returned to the track for the first time since his World Endurance crash at Le Mans last year which left him recovering from injuries including two broken legs, a broken forearm, broken ribs and three broken vertebrae in his lower back. Andrews though felt positive after the opening test last week and is now eager to continue their early progress at the team's home circuit of Snetterton.

Andrews said: "We are looking forward to getting back on track at Snetterton this week as the first test at Donington Park went well. It was my first time back on the bike since my crash last year and the body held up well. The first test for me and the team was to tick some things off a list and we did just that. We still need to get back on it at Snetterton and finalise our base setting but we have had our first run out and now we can build on that over race distances at Snetterton. We also have a new engine for Brands Hatch so we will have more power when it comes to the first round but after Donington Park we made a plan and with two good days at Snetterton this week we are all on schedule for the first round."

This year's MCE British Superbike Championship commences at Brands Hatch on Easter weekend (18-21 April). Advance weekend tickets for the season opener at the Kent circuit, valid for all four days, cost £33 online. Children under 13 go free. To book call 0843 453 9000 or click  here.
