Byrne faster than 2013 pace at Snetterton test

Wednesday, April 09 2014

Shane 'Shakey' Byrne took advantage of the ideal conditions in the opening MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship test session on the second day at Snetterton as he lapped faster than his 2013 qualifying pace to hit the top of the timesheets.

Byrne bettered his 2013 qualifying pace at their first test at the Norfolk circuit on the 17" Pirelli tyres, improving despite a technical problem at the end of the session to remain ahead of Jakub Smrz on the Millsport Ducati.

The Lloyds British GBmoto Racing Kawasaki riders had moved up the order this morning as James Ellison climbed to third fastest to move ahead of his team-mate Chris Walker who held the advantage from the leading Tyco Suzuki of John Hopkins.

The lone Quattro Plant Kawasaki of Dan Linfoot was sixth on the timesheets this morning as he remained at the sharp end throughout the session to head off triple champion Ryuichi Kiyonari on the first of the Buildbase BMWs. Honda UK Racing's Julien Da Costa was able to improve his best time on his second day on the Snetterton 300 circuit to push ahead of Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki's Stuart Easton and RAF Reserves Honda's Simon Andrews who completed the top ten.
