F1 commentator Ben Edwards to race at Snetterton this Saturday

Wednesday, September 25 2013

Formula 1 commentator Ben Edwards will be competing at Snetterton this Saturday (28 September), during the Aston Martin Owners Club Meeting, which forms a weekend of nostalgic action at the Norfolk circuit.

Edwards, who has also commentated on US CART racing and the British Touring Car Championship, will share an Alfa Romeo 2600 Sprint with historic competitor Tony Murray in the HRDC Touring Greats series. The pair are friends and the car has also been driven by former BTCC star Patrick Watts in the past.

The commentator is a former racer, having won the inaugural Formula First championship before competing against F1 stars in Formula Vauxhall Lotus. He last took part in a race two years ago.

"I'm looking forward to it," he said. "I've driven the 300 circuit on trackdays and really enjoy it. I'm looking forward to having a proper race and it's lovely to race closer to home!"

The HRDC Touring Greats is joined by a variety of historic and modern series on Saturday's timetable, which features a strong Aston Martin contingent. There is further nostalgic action on Sunday, with the Vintage Sports Car Festival taking place on the 200 circuit.

Tickets for the AMOC Club Car Championships and The Vintage Sports Car Festival are available for £13 on the gate for Saturday ahd £17 on Sunday, with free entry for children aged 12 and under.
