Hughes fastest in wet/dry Snetterton BRDC F4 test

Friday, September 06 2013

Lanan Racing's Jake Hughes got his weekend off to an ideal start by setting the fastest time in pre-event testing at Snetterton today.

With changeable weather throughout the day, it was the second of the four half hour sessions which proved the quickest, being the only one run in dry conditions.

The championship leader's time of 1m52.318s was just 0.040s quicker than the Hillspeed car of title rival Seb Morris. Seb's team mate Struan Moore was third fastest overall ahead of James Fletcher (Team KBS), and the SWR pair of Matty Graham and Jack Barlow. Mark Godwin Racing's trio of Diego Menchaca, newcomer Matt Mason and Pietro Fittipaldi were seventh, eighth and ninth, with Raoul Hyman completing the top-10 for HHC Motorsport.

"A good start to the weekend," Hughes commented afterwards. "The conditions were obviously very changeable throughout the day but in the dry session we were able to get a good time in. It's nice to start off well but today doesn't really mean anything and hopefully tomorrow we can go into qualifying and do it all again."
