Matty Graham secures first Winter Championship pole at Snetterton

Saturday, November 09 2013

Douglas Motorsport's Matty Graham has taken pole position in this morning's (Saturday) first qualifying session of the BRDC F4 Winter Championship at Snetterton.

Graham, who finished fourth in the BRDC F4 main season standings remained at the top throughout the session, which took place in damp but sunny conditions.

Falco Wauer secured second place on the grid for race one in his Enigma Motorsport machine, with series returnee Sennan Fielding third for HHC Motorsport. Fielding's team mate Will Palmer was an impressive fourth fastest on his single seater debut ahead of Mark Godwin Racing duo Pietro Fittipaldi and Matteo Ferrer.

The Hillspeed pair of Jake Cook and Dimitris Papanastasiou were seventh and eighth quickest, with Karting graduate Fredrik Johansen ninth.

Fastest lap times at the start of the session were in the 2m16s bracket, and fell to the 2m10s by the end of the 20 minute period as track conditions improved.

The first race of the BRDC F4 Winter Championship takes place at 11.00am this morning.

Speaking afterwards, Graham enthused: "Conditions were tricky out there and we were having to adapt to what the track was doing. It started to dry out towards the end and I knew the fastest lap would come on the last lap but it was just a case of finding the right lines and keep pushing."
