Simonsen fastest in first British GT practice

Saturday, June 15 2013

Allan Simonsen put his Ferrari 458 at the top of the time sheets in this morning's first practice session for the Avon Tyres British GT Championship at Snetterton 300.

Simonsen set his time just before a sudden rain deluge rendered further time improvements unlikely.

Lee Mowle was second quickest in his 888 Optimum Racing BMW Z4, ahead of the United Autosports McLaren MP412/C of Zak Brown.

Phil Keen was fourth in his Trackspeed Porsche 997 GT3 with Rembert Berg fifth at the wheel of an Audi R8 LMS. Keen's team mate Nick Tandy was sixth quickest.

The session was red flagged early on after Stephen Jelley's Trackspeed Porsche ground to halt exiting Williams corner. The late rain shower meant lap times tailed off by around 15 seconds a lap.
