Championship leader Bryant quickest in GT Practice Two

Saturday, June 15 2013

Oliver Bryant went fastest in today's (Saturday) second free practice session for the Avon Tyres British GT Championship at Snetterton 300.

The Championship leader, who drives for the Ecurie Ecosse BMW Z4 team set his time just a handful of minutes before the end of the session, with the final 15 minutes resembling a shoot out qualifying session.

With the track drying out rapidly after this morning's rain shower which affected first practice, lap times tumbled as the session went on, with this afternoon's times around a second quicker than this morning's.

Jon Minshaw and Phil Keen were second in their Trackspeed Porsche 997, just 0.020s away from Bryant's time. Steve Tandy/Dan Brown were third for 888 Optimum Racing with namesake Nick Tandy fourth for Trackspeed.

Alvaro Parente in the United Autosports McLaren MP4-12C was fastest early on, before quickly being usurped by Phil Keen's Trackspeed Porsche 997. Joe Osbourne then took over at the top in the 888 Optimum Racing BMW Z4, just as the red flags came out briefly to recover the Team LNT Ginetta which had stopped at Coram due to an electrical fault.

The session resumed with 22 minutes remaining and Brown immediately shot to the top of the times with a 1m50.260s. That didn't last long though when Keen took over at the top with the fastest lap of the weekend so far in his Trackspeed Porsche.

That time was just edged out by Bryant's Ecurie Ecosse BMW Z4, two minutes before the chequered flag fell.

The all important split qualifying session for the Avon Tyres British GT Championship takes place at 15.50 this afternoon.
