Struan Moore claims first F4 win in Snetterton race two

Sunday, June 16 2013

Struan Moore has claimed his and Hillspeed’s maiden BRDC F4 race win in this weekend’s second race today (Sunday). Raoul Hyman secured his second podium in three races for HHC Motorsport in second, with Falco Wauer standing on the podium again for Team KBS in third.

Seb Morris secured fourth ahead of Charlie Robertson, with the pair resuming their battle from yesterday's race. Jake Hughes finished sixth for Lanan Racing, with race one winner James Fletcher seventh for Team KBS. Ross Gunn was an impressive eighth for Motionsport, with Gustavo Lima gaining 10 places from his grid position to finish ninth for HHC Motorsport. Jack Barlow rounded out the top-10 for Sean Walkinshaw Racing.

The top three finishers were presented with their trophies on the podium by former McLaren Formula One driver Mark Blundell.

The original race was red flagged after an incident on lap one involving Matt Bell and Sennan Fielding, who started second and third and Matthew Graham, who was also caught up.

The restarted race was held over eight laps with the drivers starting from their original grid positions, minus the trio affected at the original start.

The second start was much cleaner, and Moore converted his pole position into a 0.4 second lead at the end of lap one from Falco Wauer and Raoul Hyman.

By the end of the second lap, Wauer had trimmed the gap to 0.3 seconds, but third placed man Hyman was on the move, and passed the American into Riches at the start of lap four.

Behind them, Morris and Robertson were resuming their duel from yesterday's contest, but Morris successfuly kept Robertson behind this time around, with Jake Hughes edging past Robertson at one point before the Scotsman found his way back past on lap five. Morris, Robertson and Hughes were separated by only 0.5s at the end of the race.

Diego Menchaca went from 21st on the grid to finish 11th, ahead of James Greenway, while Pietro Fittipaldi fought from 22nd on the grid to 13th.
