MSV Professional Photography competiton: The results are in...

Monday, December 23 2013

Our poll for MSV's professional photo of the year has been completed and we've counted all of your votes. One again we've had a phenominal response, although we did notice that one or two of you have tried to vote more than once!

Congratulations to all ten of the shortlisted photographers, but there can be only one winner. However to increase the tension we've listed the top three below, in ascending order...

Third place: David Blake

Photo comp Pro 2013 3

Snetterton snapper David has gone for a take on the classic 'through the armco' shot, which frames the action and the famous Snetterton bridge beautifully. The vibrant colours capture the essence of enjoying motorsport on a summers' day and garnered 16% of the votes.

Camera: Canon EOS-1DX with EF24-70mm F/2.8L USM lens. Exposure details: time 1/500sec, aperture F5.6.

Second place: Andy Kelly

Photo comp Pro 2

Last year's winnner Andy Kelly has submitted a similar shot, this time with two contrasting ways of tackling Cadwell Park's fearsome Mountain during the annual Bank Holiday MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship event. 18% of you voted for this image.

Camera: Nikon D300 with Nikon 300mm lens. Exposure details: time 1/400th, aperture F7.1, ISO 320.

First place: Jon Bryant

Photo comp Pro 2013 1

29% of the vote went to Jon, who submitted a moody nightime shot, taken during the Lotus 6 Hour race. He's managed to focus all attention on the car, picking out the bodywork details of the Exige, whilst the colour temperature of the lights completes the atmosphere.

Camera: Canon 1Dx with Canon 70-200 f2.8 L IS USM lens. Exposure details: time 1/80, aperture f2.8.
