Thomas and Summerfield victorious ahead of Trucks triple header

Sunday, August 25 2013

Steve Thomas and Matt Summerfield were the winners as the Truck Superprix action at Snetterton got off to an exciting start on the Snetterton 300 circuit today (Sunday 25 August).

Thomas claimed the honours in race one, making an early breakaway to build up an advantage over Richard Collett. Championship leader Summerfield fought his way past Collett in the early stages, but by which point Thomas had built a comfortable advantage to take the win, with Summerfield having to settle for second. David Jenkins took the third step on the podium, having started fourth while Collett's early strong showing faded, and eventually claimed fifth ahead of Truck Racing legend Stuart Oliver.

Summerfield was victorious in an exciting race two, despite starting from fifth on the grid. He scythed his way through, to take the lead on the fourth lap and then didn't look back to take the chequered flag by over three seconds. Jenkins secured second from fourth on the grid while race one winner Thomas again made the podium in third, despite starting sixth. Oliver took fourth while pole sitter Ben Horne took sixth behind Collett.

Horne will again start on pole for the third race which starts at 11.05 tomorrow, with two further races from the Truck Racing leviathans taking place at 13.30 and 15.15, with support from the frenzied Legends Cars Championship and Pick Up Trucks.
