Collett holds off last lap challenge to take race four win

Monday, August 26 2013

Richard Collett held off a last lap challenge from David Jenkins and Steve Thomas to take a hard earned win in the fourth British Truck Racing Association race at Snetterton today (26 August).

Starting from second on the grid he made a good start to pass pole sitter Ben Horne around the outside of Riches on the first lap, while Jenkins rose from fourth to second in the same move.

From there it was a straight scrap for the lead throughout the remainder of the race with Jenkins just inches behind throughout the contest.

On the last lap it turned into a three way scrap, as Steve Thomas joined in the fun, while race three winner Matt Summerfield also joined in the fun. Collett and Thomas were side by side for several corners before Thomas ran wide allowing Jenkins up to second and Summerfield up to third.

Exiting the final corner it was a straight drag to the line between Collett and Jenkins, with Collett just holding his nerve to take a tight win. by 0.194s.

Summerfield and Thomas claimed third and fourth, while multiple champion Stuart Oliver claimed fifth after an early scrap with Summerfield. Pole sitter Horne took sixth ahead of Division Two winner Graham Powell.

The fifth truck race takes place later this afternoon, with Horne again starting on pole with Oliver alongside him on the front row, and looking to take his second win of the season.
