Spectacular F1 demos headline festival of power and speed

Tuesday, September 04 2012

Formula 1 cars return to Snetterton this September (22/23), headlining a festival of power and speed at the Norfolk circuit. The end of summer Modified Live weekend is also the venue's last big event of the season, although fans will still be able to see plenty of racing until mid-November!

Four F1 racers from the 80s and 90s will provide a rare opportunity for spectators to experience the pinnacle of motorsport. From the spectacular turbo era, the Toleman T184 that brought Ayrton Senna to the world's attention will be a popular attraction. The team later morphed into Benetton and two of their cars from the following decade, complete with high-revving V8 engines, will take to the Norfolk circuit's long straights. In addition to the 1993 active suspension car from Michael Schumacher's early years, the 1990 car that Nelson Piquet took to victory in Japan and Australia will also appear. Piquet's 1989 Lotus 101, driven enthusiastically by current owner Steve Griffiths, returns after two runs at the circuit in recent Lotus Festivals.

Following their debut race at Snetterton, 1,000bhp racing trucks also make a return to the track with demonstration runs. There will be plenty of competitive action too, with the incredible European Drift Championship bringing spectacular sideways action, whilst the Time Attack Championship showcases the world's best modified performance cars lapping the circuit at breakneck speeds.

Racing entertainment is provided by NASCAR-style Pickup Truck racing, which will provide unbelievably close racing, whilst the brand new Civic Cup Championship provides fun, affordable racing for novice drivers. The spirit of Modified Live encourages spectators to get involved, with track time on the new 300 circuit available for the public to book on the Saturday for just £25. Alternatively unforgettable Drift Taxi rides can be experienced on the Sunday.

Those who prefer to take part in a more sedate manner can enter the Show and Shine competition or the Car Club Tug-of-War. There will even be a Supercar Paddock, offering the chance to get up close to some of the most desirable cars on the planet.

Tickets for Modified Live at Snetterton on 22/23 September are available from just £17, with free entry for children aged 12 and under. For more information call 0843 453 9000 or click here.
