The HSCC's Grahame White previews Cadwell Park & Snetterton races

Tuesday, January 31 2012

The Historic Sports Car Club once again visits Cadwell Park and Snetterton in 2012, with the return of two of the most popular events on the historic racing calendar.

The Cadwell Park Wolds Trophy takes place in Lincolnshire on 21/22 April, drawing on the success of last year. The 2011 event was a celebration of the history of Formula Three and proved a popular edition to the calendar with races from single seater machinery from the 1950s to 80s.

The theme continues this year, as HSCC Executive Director Grahame White explains: "We're going to continue with the Wolds Trophy at Cadwell Park which is something we want to try and establish. We had this as a Formula Three festival last year which worked very well and we're going to continue that theme again this year.

"A lot of people came to the circuit last year who had not been there before and loved it; it's a real drivers circuit" he added.

Additions to the race roster for 2012 include encounters for Historic Road Sports, 70s Road Sports, Historic Touring Cars, and Historic Formula Ford, on top of the Classic Formula 3, Historic Formula 3, and 500cc F3 races.

From Cheshire, the HSCC moves to Snetterton on 9/10 June with a return visit to the 300 circuit that was well-received last year, for a unique endurance event.

"The Autosport Three Hour event at Snetterton will again run on the new elongated circuit which was popular with our drivers last year and it will be one of the few long distance historic races running in the UK in 2012" said White.

The main event in Norfolk will be the three hour epic for the Guards Trophy for sports and GT cars built before 1966 with an international sporting pedigree. There will be further races for Historic Road Sports, Historic Formula Three and Historic Formula 2000 among others.

The HSCC Wolds Trophy at Cadwell Park takes place on 21-22 April, and the Autosport Three Hours at Snetterton is held on 9-10 June. Tickets are available in advance for £10 with free admission for children aged 12 and under. For more information call 0843 453 9000 or click here.
