Honda Racing confirms continuation of BTCC dream team

Friday, December 14 2012

Honda Racing has confirmed Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Champions Matt Neal and Gordon Shedden for the 2013 season. The team will continue to use the NGTC-specification Civic that dominated this year, starting from the opening round at Brands Hatch on 30/31 March 2013.

2011 champion Matt Neal scored the car's first win at Brands Hatch in April, before Shedden began a run of victories that provided the foundation for his maiden title. Meanwhile only poor luck prevented Neal from becoming the most crowned BTCC driver since Andy Rouse. The success of both handed Honda the manufacturers' honours and Team Dynamics the teams' title.

With both drivers hungry for more success in 2013, they looked back on the season, picking out the first and last rounds at Brands Hatch as special moments. "The win at the first meeting of the year," Neal recalled as his favourite. "Not only the first for an NGTC car, but it was getting the first win at the first meeting for the new NGTC Civic, for me was a special moment that I was very proud to be part of."

"It's been an incredible year," agreed Shedden. "To win the championship in race two at Brands Hatch There was just a special moment when I was told over the radio that I had enough points to clinch the championship. It was very surreal, massive emotion and obviously a memory I will treasure for the rest of my life."

Both drivers confirmed their deals in a video produced by Honda Racing, which you can view below:
