Redstone shift Focus to new car at Snetterton

Saturday, August 11 2012

Redstone Racing have arrived at Snetterton for the latest round of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship (11/12 August) with a brand new Next Generation Touring Car (NGTC) specification Focus. The Kent-based team have been working around the clock to get the new racer to Norfolk, which arrived at 6:00am this morning (Saturday)

The car will be shaken down in this morning's first free practice session, which commences at 9:35am. It will be the first time that it has turned a wheel and title contender Mat Jackson is the intended driver. If the team are satisfied with the competitiveness and reliability of the new Focus then it will be raced this weekend.

Redstone Racing's Team Principal David Bartrum said: "It's certainly all hands on deck at the moment - I hope we can do it, that's the aim but we have to be certain.

"All I can say is what an incredible job it's been by everyone in our team - there are some lads who've basically not slept for the last three days and one of our fabricators who hasn't seen his bed for about a week. What a team effort!"

Redstone are the latest title challengers to join the growing ranks of NGTC teams, following Honda Racing's switch and MG's entry at the start of the season. "Hopefully it will turn heads," a proud Bartrum said. "The reaction from a few marshals and other early birds who've walked past our pit garage this morning has been very pleasing."

Meanwhile Jackson's team mate Aron Smith will continue to race the team's existing S2000-specification Focus.

Tickets for the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship at Snetterton on 11/12 August are available on the gate for £13 on Saturday and £30 on Sunday, with free entry for children aged 12 and under. For more information call 0843 453 9000 or click here.
