Landmark weekend at Snetterton packed with racing action

Sunday, May 22 2011

This Bank Holiday Weekend (28-30 May) will see a packed weekend at Snetterton with two club events plus a sprint, which becomes the first meeting to use the all-new 100 infield loop at the Norfolk circuit. This will be the first time in history that one racing club has used two configurations at Snetterton simultaneously.

Saturday's Aston Martin Owners Club event is also significant, since the club held the track's very first meeting 60 years ago. This weekend they will mark the occasion by racing on the brand new 300 circuit, meaning that all three configurations will be used over the three days.

The AMR GT4 Challenge of Great Britain features an endurance race and is exclusively for the spectacular Aston Martin GT4, Vantage GT4 and N24. The long-distance theme continues with the AMOC GT Enduro.

Meanwhile the popular Heritage Grand Touring Car Challenge entertains with a whole range of classic GTs and Saloons battling along the infield and straights of the superb new Snetterton 300 circuit.

The BRSCC's two-day meeting on Sunday and Monday starts with the Saker Challenge providing sprint racing for Le Mans-style cars. Similarly powerful machinery can be found with the Dunlop TVR Challenge, where the very finest from the Blackpool factory battle together.

The evergreen Minis feature in the Mighty and Super Mighty Mini Championships, where you can expect to see exciting slipstreaming action along the straights of the 200 circuit.

Further icons can be found, albeit in silhouette form, with the Funcup. Powerful petrol and diesel-powered VW Beetle-shelled cars compete in a five hour endurance race on Monday, complete with pitstops and driver changes.

Whilst all of this is happening on the perimeter of the venue, don't forget to follow the sprint on the infield 100 circuit, where a whole variety of cars feature as the drivers post qualifying-style laps against the clock. With superb views available from the new spectator banks making almost all of the track visible, this is sure to be a unique event!
