MSVR Season Starter Sunday round-up

The first race weekend on the new Snetterton 300 circuit has drawn to a close with a dramatic Sunday with racing full of thrills and action, proving that the new layout has succeeded in promoting overtaking and incident aplenty.

Ten races were held, including the maiden appearances from the MSV F3 Cup and Lotus Cup UK. A full run down of results is available below.

Production BMW Championship Race 1
Ben Winrow secured his first win of the season in the opening race of the championship in dominant style, finishing over 11 seconds clear of Tim Wilson, with Mike Tovey third.

Production BMW Championship Race 2
James MacIntyre secured the win in convincing style, over 16 seconds ahead of Alan Wileman in second, with Liam Crilley third.

Production BMW Championship Race 3
The race was red flagged after an incident at Montreal hairpin on the first lap. On the restart, Ben Winrow led comfortably to win by almost 12 seconds, continuing his form from the day's first race, with Rob Smith and Liam Crilley second and third.

Lotus on Track Elise Trophy Race 1
The race was red flagged after a multi-car collision at Riches on lap one which eliminated nine drivers. After a lengthy delay the race was restarted, with Ken Savage securing the win, just 0.130s ahead of Luigi Valentino Mazza, with Stuart Rowland third.

Lotus on Track Elise Trophy Race 2
It was a familiar looking podium for the second race of the Lotus on Track Elise Trophy, with Ken Savage securing the win by a bigger margin this time, six seconds ahead of Stuart Rowland with Luigi Valentino Mazza third.

Monoposto 2000 Qualifying
Matt Draper secured pole position for the Monoposto 2000 & Classic race with a lap time of 1:52.948s, over a second clear of 2010 champion Tristan Cliffe in second. Richard Purcell rounded out the top three in his Dallara F301.

Mono 2000 & Classic Race
Tristan Cliffe secured the victory and started his championship defence in fine style, winning by six seconds from the more modern Dallara of Richard Purcell in second. Anthony Bishop rounded out the top three in his F397 Dallara.

Monoposto 1800/1400/1000/1600 Qualifying
Dan Clowes was the fastest man in qualifying for the Monoposto 1800/1400/1000/1600 category, with a time only two-tenths quicker than the similar Jedi car of Dax Ward. Marc Fortune was third fastest.

Monoposto 1800/1400/1000/1600 Race
Dax Ward was the winner, a second and a half ahead of Marc Fortune, the Jedi pairing finishing well ahead of the GEM car of Adrian Wright.
