MSVR Season Starter Saturday round-up

A total of seven qualifying sessions and three races were held on the new Snetterton 300 circuit today (Saturday), with Adam Sharpe becoming the first driver to claim a win on the new layout in the Project 8 Racing Saloons series. A full run-down of qualifying and race results can be found below.

Project 8 Racing Saloons Qualifying

Adam Sharpe qualified his BMW M3 on pole position with a time of 2:10.325s, over two-and-a-half seconds quicker than the Ford Sierra Cosworth of Colin Tester, with the BMW M5 of Roger Kneebone third fastest.

Project 8 Racing Saloons Race 1

Adam Sharpe became the first ever winner on the new Snetterton 300 circuit, recovering from a poor start to make up several places in the race, taking advantage of the new overtaking opportunities offered by the new layout to cut through to the front of the field and secure the win. Colin Tester driving a Ford Sierra Cosworth was second, with the BMW E36 M3 of Mike Dugdale third.

Project 8 Racing Saloons Race 2

Sharpe was again victorious in race two, with a commanding win of 4.239 seconds over Tester, securing his second runners-up position of the day, with the BMW M5 of Roger Kneebone third.

Club MSV Trackday Trophy Qualifying

James Britton took pole position for the Trackday Trophy race today with a lap time of 2:14.230s, a lap almost two seconds quicker than the Hamilton/Buxton pairing in the RenaultSport Clio. David Thomas qualified third in his Renault Clio Cup car.

Club MSV Trackday Trophy Race

James Britton driving a BMW M3 secured the win by just 1.6 seconds after a 45 minute race, with the Lee/Lynn M3 second and the Hamilton/Buxton Renault Sport Clio third.

Lotus Cup UK Qualifying
Mark Speller was the fastest man in qualifying in his Lotus 340R. His time was 1.199s quicker than the Sherwood/Stanley duo in the Exige Cup car, with Simon Deacon third in a 2-Eleven.

Lotus on Track Elise Trophy Qualifying

Mike Vase grabbed pole position in his Lotus Elise S2 111R by four-tenths of a second, ahead of Ken Savage and Luigi Valentino Mazza, both driving Elise S1s.

MSV F3 Cup Qualifying

Aaron Steele dominated the qualifying session for the MSV F3 Cup, qualifying almost 2.9 seconds clear of nearest rival Mark Terry with Alex Craven third.

His qualifying time, an unofficial lap record of 1:46.600s was an average speed of 100.26mph.

"It's quite a nice feeling to be the temporary lap record holder!" said Steele. "I don't think it will stand for too long but it's nice to know that currently I'm the fastest man to have ever driven around this new Snetterton circuit!"
