MotorSport Vision Racing celebrates fifth anniversary

Saturday, March 19 2011

MotorSport Vision Racing (MSVR), the in-house racing division of major UK circuit owner MSV, celebrated its fifth anniversary with a special birthday presentation at the opening meeting of its 2011 season at Snetterton today (Saturday 19 March).

MSVR hosted its first race meeting at Brands Hatch on 19 March 2006 and since then has become the fastest growing race organising club in the UK.

During its five year existence, MSVR has organised prestigious international events such as DTM, the FIA Formula Two Championship and the FIA World Touring Car Championship at Brands Hatch, as well as a busy programme of club motorsport events.

This season will be MSVR's busiest to date, with 32 car events planned in 2011 including the MSVR Season Starter, the first outing on the newly redeveloped Snetterton 300 circuit, this weekend (19/20 March).

MSVR's portfolio of race series has also expanded significantly over the past five seasons to encompass 20 series and championships this year. New additions will include the EV Cup, a groundbreaking series for zero emission electric vehicles, the MSV F3 Cup, the Radical UK and Clubman's Cups and the MINI Challenge. MSVR has also operated the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship, the world's premier national motorcycle racing championship, since 2008.

To mark its fifth anniversary, a selection of vehicles from some of MSVR's flagship car series - the Lotus on Track Elise Trophy, Project 8 Racing Saloons, Club MSV Trackday Trophy, Production BMW Championship and MSV F3 Cup took part in a special photograph opportunity on the grid to create the number five.

Renowned motorsport commentator Ian Titchmarsh, who reported on the first ever MSVR race meeting in March 2006 featuring Formula Ford, Open Saloons, Open Sports and GTs and the T Cars series for junior racers, also presented MSVR Race Operations Manager David Scott with a congratulatory birthday card.

David Scott, Race Operations Manager for MSVR, said: "It doesn't seem possible that five years have elapsed since the first MSVR race meeting was held in 2006. At that event there were just four categories racing with just 88 competitors - this weekend seven different MSVR championships and series are on the grid with some 270 competitors! A number of old friends are still us today, whether drivers, officials, marshals or supporters, and we hope to welcome some new ones too. Here's to the next five years."

Tickets are available on the gate for the MSVR Season Starter at Snetterton priced at £13. For more information call 0843 453 9000 or click the link below.
