High speed Britcar endurance action at Snetterton

Monday, August 08 2011

Britcar returns to Snetterton this weekend (13/14 August) with a treat for fans of high-performance endurance racing on the new 300 circuit. The race format provides the perfect opportunity to explore the superb new spectator areas with unrivalled views of the action.

The event is headlined by a three-hour round of the MSA British Endurance Championship. The season is fast approaching its climax and Craig Wilkins and Aaron Scott currently lead the standings in their Dodge Viper GT3. However they remain under threat from the Topcars racing Marcos Mantis GT3s, whilst Azteca's Mosler and Horsepower Racing's Ferrari F430 arent far behind either.

A bumper grid can be expected for this race, for it also features a two-hour Dunlop Production GTN Championship round, and both classes will start at the same time. Alex Osbourne and James May's Seat Leon holds a slim lead over Tim Saunders' Honda Civic Type R and the Lotus Elise of Simon Phillips.

Support comes from the Competition Car Insurance Ford Fiesta Championship, which features a race for classes AB and D for the lower-powered Si, Zetec and Zetec S cars from the mid-90s to the present day. Class C for the higher performance Fiesta ST has its own race.

Theres also action from the new Smart 4two Cup, where the diminutive two-seater city cars will compete for honours on the Norfolk tarmac. The series is aimed at driver teams, making the perfect companion for the headline races.

Tickets for the Britcar Endurance Championships at Snetterton are available from £10, with free entry for children aged 12 and under. To book, call 0843 453 9000 or click the link below.
