F2 drivers lavish praise on Snetterton 300 layout

Friday, April 01 2011

The brand new Snetterton 300 circuit hosted the final pre-season FIA Formula Two Championship test session on Wednesday, the first time a major international series has visited since the official opening earlier this month.

The early spring weather meant that drivers were able to sample the track in both wet and dry conditions, and the field of 2011 F2 drivers were quick to praise the new 2.99 mile layout.

Kings-Lynn based driver Alex Brundle, fastest in session two, said: "People were relatively on it straight out of the box, but it's a technical track and it's the place that you need to come and learn over days not hours, so theres definitely more to come."

After heading the third session, F2s latest signing James Cole remarked, "It's a really good track this new Snetterton circuit; very challenging!"

Overall pacesetter Miki Monras was also a fan, adding: "The track is really nice and it's been enjoyable to find the limits and I really like it - it's really quick with a lot of corners, which is good."

The F2 drivers will have a few weeks to rest before the first race of the season in April at Silverstone, however the Snetterton circuit carries on with its busy schedule in the meantime, with a weekend of motorcycle racing from the Derby Phoenix Motorcycle Club on Saturday and Sunday (2/3 April).

Tickets for the Derby Phoenix Club Bike Championships at Snetterton are available on the gate from 13 per day for adults with free admission for children aged 12 and under. For more information call 0843 453 9000 or click the link below.
