Classic Sports Car Club aims to excite at Snetterton

Sunday, April 03 2011

Whilst Snetterton looks to the future with the new 300 layout, the Classic Sports Car Club provides a nostalgic feel to events this weekend, with a packed programme of races over two days (9/10 April). The club runs a pitstop-race format, encouraging drivers to pair up in cars, meaning that the order can change frequently.

Classic K is open to cars from the immediate post-war era, where 4 and 6 cylinder GT and Touring cars running to FIA Appendix K period specification compete for honours.

The Swinging '60s series features anything on four wheels from that decade. Jaguars, Aston Martins and classic American muscle cars compete with MGs and Triumphs.

The '70s and '80s are well-catered for with the Future Classics series for sports, saloons and GTs. Jaguar, Porsche, Alfa Romeo, BMW and Mazda are amongst the marques represented.

The popular Lotus Seven and the cars that it inspired race together in Magnificent Sevens. Caterhams, Westfields, Tigers, Strykers and more, powered with either car or bike engines, will be taking to the circuit.

Original Mini Coopers race with Honda Civics in Tin Tops, primarily aimed at novice drivers.

Bringing us up to date, the Deutsche Marques are production German sports, saloon and GT cars from 1990 to the present day.

Joining the CSCC this weekend are the Jaguar Classic Parts Jaguar Saloon and Jaguar XJS Championship, Sports Car v Saloon Car Challenge with JEC Powered by Jaguar Series and the Aero Racing Morgan Challenge.

Tickets for the Classic Sports Car Championships at Snetterton are available from £10 for adults with free admission for children aged 12 and under. For more information call 0843 453 9000 or click the link below.
